Dai Ethnic Minority

The Dai minority believe in Theravada (also called Southern Buddhism), and their traditional festivals like Water-splashing, Kaimen and Guanmen are all closely related to Buddhism. Among the various ethnic dances of the Dais, the Elephant-foot Drum Dance and Peacock Dance are most famous.

The Dais mainly live in Xishuangbanna and Dehong both of which are known for being ever green and known as “Kingdom of Animals and Plants”. And the Dai ethnic architectures are similar to those in Southeast Asia.
